Style

Merab Khutashvili’s sculptures seamlessly blend classical elegance with modern abstraction, creating a distinctive artistic voice deeply rooted in Georgian heritage and universal themes. His mastery of bronze casting, with its reflective surfaces and dynamic forms, amplifies the visual and emotional impact of his works. Drawing from mythological and allegorical subjects such as Icarus and the Golden Fleece, Khutashvili crafts narratives of aspiration, resilience, and transcendence.

His style is characterized by flowing lines, elongated forms, and the strategic use of negative space, which instills a sense of movement and lightness in his sculptures. The polished surfaces interact with light to cast dramatic reflections and shadows, enhancing their three-dimensionality and inviting tactile engagement. Through the synthesis of symbolic abstraction and classical motifs, Khutashvili reinterprets timeless stories in a contemporary aesthetic, making his works resonant with both traditional and modern audiences.

Conceptually, Khutashvili explores themes of ambition, balance, and the human condition, presenting sculptures that evoke awe, introspection, and intellectual curiosity. His ability to fuse technical precision with profound narrative depth positions him as a leading figure in contemporary Georgian sculpture, celebrated for his innovative approach and cultural relevance
